2 Chloro 1-4-Phenylendiamine
2-Chloro-1,4-Phenylenediamine (CAS No. 615-66-7) is an aromatic
diamine compound with the molecular formula C₆H₇ClN₂ and a molecular weight of
142.59 g/mol. It appears as a white to gray crystalline powder and is slightly
soluble in water, with better solubility in organic solvents like ethanol and
DMSO. This compound is primarily used as an intermediate in the synthesis of
dyes, pigments, and hair colorants. Its structure features a chloro-substituted
benzene ring with two amino groups, enabling high reactivity in diazotization and
coupling reactions. It is also used in the preparation of specialty chemicals and
pharmaceutical intermediates. With a melting point of 63–67 °C and λmax at 318 nm
in ethanol, it offers stability and consistent performance in formulation
processes. Manufactured under controlled conditions, it complies with ISO and
REACH standards. Due to its irritant properties, it must be handled with
appropriate safety measures and protective equipment.
